Cabell County Legal Aid

If you are a victim of domestic violence and need legal help, contact your local domestic violence program. Legal Aid of West Virginia (LAWV) is the state`s leading provider of civil legal aid and advocacy services. Our mission is to ensure that the most vulnerable among us — low-income families, seniors, victims of domestic violence, people with disabilities — have an equal opportunity for justice, in the courtrooms and in their communities. Legal aid receives grants so that we can provide free assistance. We do not charge a fee for our services, but if we are dealing with your case, you may have to pay some court fees or other related expenses. In order to receive help from lawyers and legal aid staff, you usually need to meet certain requirements. In general, you must be considered low-income OR a victim of domestic violence to be eligible for our Civil Rights Assistance Program. There are exceptions, so if you`re not sure, call to apply. You can apply online or by calling 1-866-255-4370. Application line opening hours: Mon. 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tue.
