The Business Law degree program combines legal and economic issues with a focus on areas of commercial law. Law firms are increasingly expressing interest in graduates who can demonstrate a broad academic interest outside of law, meaning our graduates are highly employable. During the course, you will also gain valuable skills in researching, writing, presenting and debating legal and social science topics that can be applied in many employment contexts. Political science deals with the institutions of the state and society, their theoretical and philosophical foundations, and their manifestations in modern history and the present. The program in Law, Behavioral and Social Sciences reflects and promotes recent trends in interdisciplinary jurisprudence and aims to broaden and deepen knowledge at the intersection of law and various areas of the social sciences, including economics, behavioral law and economics, empirical legal studies, sociology and psychology. Over the past decade, however, there has been an explosion of interdisciplinary work spanning multiple fields, which is reflected in the widespread attitudes of political scientists, historians, philosophers, psychologists, sociologists and more in elite law schools. The last decade has also seen a flowering of formal methods that go beyond theoretical analysis, which is closely linked to traditional policy-based legal analysis, to include the increasing use of empirical methods such as large-scale data analysis, field studies, and behavioral experiments. In many law schools, this expansion of interdisciplinary work has led to the dissolution of existing programs or their fragmentation into subfields such as law and politics, law and psychology, and empirical jurisprudence. However, USC`s interdisciplinary community is excited to take a different course. The size of USC`s contingent of social scientists and the strong affinity of their interdisciplinary interests have led to the establishment of a new approach that integrates social science work.

CLASS is designed to embody and facilitate this new approach. An LLM, or Master of Laws, is a university degree often sought after by students with law degrees who wish to pursue more in-depth training in a particular area of law study.
